ANNUAL FEBRUARY RIDE
FEBRUARY 19 - 26, 2011
(In association with Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo)

This is our week-long ride.  We ride from Brazoria to Memorial Park
(Houston).  All riders are responsible for their own horses/mules, food, &
sleeping arrangements (tents are allowed, but not recommended - camp
is moved each morning).  REMEMBER - this is our annual ride that has
those (dreaded) rules/regulation (including a strict dress code).  Texas
Independence Trail Ride is a chartered ride through the State of Texas;
also, this ride is a sanctioned trail ride with HLS&R; therefore, we are
required by HLS&R to adhere/enforce their rules/regulations (not ours)
for this ride to continue!!!  This annual event is by "Invitation Only" from
HLS&R; therefore, we ask all participants to assist us in staying in
compliance with HLS&R's rules/regulations.  Any misconduct or failure to
adhere to the rules/regulations by a participant, can cause the "entire"
ride to be eliminated from further participation!!!  We wish for all our
riders to have a great time, but unruly behavior will not be tolerated!
HLS&R does have a "No Riders List" and once your name/group has
been placed on this list, you are banned from future participate....

Due to limited space for camping/parking, all wagons and/or large
groups (that didn't participate the previous year),
must be pre-approved!!!

You will receive a list of the HLS&R rules/regulations in your February
packet (mailed the 1st week of January), PLEASE read it carefully and
help us to make sure your group is in compliance - THANKS!!!  If you
ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Jeff Simpson
(Trail Boss) or Sandy Flippo (Assistant Trail Boss).  Our contact
information is on the "Contact Us" page of this website.

We highly recommend our Pre-Registration Party (S
aturday, Feb. 5th -
Moose Lodge, Pasadena
).  Not only does it save you money, but all
questions/answers along with any changes are discussed at this time.

REMINDER - Coggins are always required!!!  Along with a Coggins,
HLS&R also requires each horse/mule to have a Health Certificate!!!  The
Health Certificate is
only valid for 45 days, so it must be active
throughout the entire week!!!  You must present a legible copy of BOTH
to be left with the trail ride secretary - THIS WILL BE STRICTLY
ENFORCED!!!  The HLS&R Committee randomly checks riders
and
horses/mules (compared with coggins/health certificate)
throughout the
week.  The trail ride secretary is required to have in her possession
at all
times
the required paperwork. PLEASE help make her job easier & have
your paperwork in order - THANKS!!!

50TH ANNIVERSARY!!!

This February will be the 50th Anniversary of Texas Independence's
participation in the HLS&R Trail Rides.  Last year we had overwhelming
participation of riders wearing red shirts upon entering Memorial Park
and the downtown parade.  We are asking all our participants wear RED
again this year,as we enter Memorial Park - Saturday through the
downtown parade would also look great!!! All RED SHIRTS must be in
compliance with the HLS&R dress code!  Also, we are looking for other
ways to celebrate our 50TH ANNIVERSARY - if you have suggestions,
please let us know and/or attend our next meeting!!!
